Bonjour tout le monde!
I successfully made it to Paris after a whirlwind of a day. In the span of 24 hours, I drove to Athens, got the OK to go to Paris, re-registered for classes, paid tuition, got all of my books for this summer, got my apartment ready to sell, drove 2 hours home to Locust Grove, packed in an hour, went to target, said goodbye to my mom, went to the airport, checked in, had a last dinner with dad, got on (at the last minute!!!) a flight to CDG, flew 8 hours, slept 6 of those hours, landed, cleared customs, got my bags, got cash money, hailed a cab, rode into the city, and arrived at St. Johns. WHEW.
Needless to say, I’m exhausted, but in a giddy-happy-exhausted sort of way. I’ve unpacked, showered, caught up on facebook, skyped dad, and I just went out for a half-hour wander around the city. I’m trying to find some food but nothing caught my eye…nevertheless, it was nice just to listen to my ipod and wander the streets. We’re about 10 minutes from the Eiffel Tower, towards the latin quarter. I strolled the streets for awhile, getting my bearings and people watching and trying to shock my brain into realizing that I’m actually here! It started raining and I was right by the school, so I figured I could at least come in and grab an umbrella.
First impressions…the city is just as beautiful as I remember. The people are gorgeous, all pale skin and dark hair. I fit in even better than I thought. 🙂 Everything’s so surreal right now, but I know it will settle in as I’m here more. After all, I’m living here for the next month and a half…I might as well get used to it.
I’m off to explore Paris! Au revoir!
